What ever happened to Newcandescent? « on: November 18, 2020, 06:55:49 AM » Author: MikeT1982
I apologize I am a bit under the influence and have refrained from asking this. But now have the guts. I believe they were bought out by the government or threatened years back. They bragged proudly that they foudn a loophole, and seemed to make gorgeous bulbs some claiming lasting as long as LED, extended life incandescent. Then POOF they were assassinated.........any ideas?  Hope you guys are having a nice eve! I fear they got bullied to closing!!!! Not enough interest just couldn't be.....i mean these guys were around when CFL was mainstay. I ran very good CFL Sylvania Micro.....can't remember but they were nice! after maybe 6 years they started to turn yellow and fail so I switched to Halogen which I currently own when Lowe's was liquidating Sylvania double life halogens. MicroMini!!! That's what they were, they had thier flaws but damn they were bright and they did the job but then I went to NewCandescent and was going to plan my entire house around them and some damn Chinese company took them over and called it NewCandescent LED....what a joke!!!! Lack of Business? Government Shady Buy out? Bullying to close? I'm very curious. THe man seemed proud, he seemed determined, and seemed EXACTLY what the government would NOT want LoL..... he even was a direct relative of THomas Edison (PS governement I am lighting dusk to dawn THREE Edison 60 watt incandescent replicas for only 900 lumens total for my shared driveway but its gorgeous and the neighbors love it. Cheap downfiring 1900's looking fixtures too! Had one and I just added two more. Have a wonderful Day incoming government! LoL I work hard for the cash to run them too, but to me it's worth it!  :inc: :sfl: :mv: :hps: :lps:

I still have no idea what happened with them, but Newcandescent-LED is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

I agree LoL! It had the same generic look that I’ve seen with other companies when they are taken over by somebody that has absolutely no idea or heart in the original matter they just buy the brand and let some clueless person redo the website LOL they were actually explaining how brilliant it was that the new incandescent was LED! LOL clowns!

I wanted to add, I witnessed this about a decade ago when an extremely high end 12 bolt audio company called Zapco whom I couldn’t afford but admired..(I no longer do audio stuff but did for a bit when younger) made some of the finest sound quality car audio amplifiers money could buy a 200 W amplifier costing a few grand. They got bought out by the Chinese and the website was redone and it said we have recently discovered that we were wasting our time using esoteric equipment when you can’t tell the difference so now we were taking a different approach and we think our loyal fans will agree! LOL like when Mercedes-Benz decides to sell a $5000 car and say they were doing it wrong all along you know something is up LOL! I mean really? The incoming group actually thinks that the enthusiast is that stupid LOL.

Got chased by laws of physics and lost...

Like 99.99% of similar "revolutionary technology" startups...
90% of them being just money scams by design, the rest being just naive activists.

If something looks too good to be true, it is guaranteed not true...

If there were any scientific breakthrough, the serious scientific papers are full of that for decades first. Only then someone may succeed turning that into a commercial product.
Otherwise everything is just a slow evolution and a tedious engineering work. Nothing for a startup company without a billion dollar starting fund (like SpaceX got from Musk himself; Paypal was making that money, but that isn't any revolutionary science, just a small evolutionary step, although with huge impact).

Thanks guys, thank you Medved, yeah he did seem legitimate though as he bragged that he was upset with CFL and LED being forced upon us and simply sold premium incandescentls under the title rough duty 130v. But made these in decorative styles and all from scratch. He really really thumbed his nose at the new legislation saying he was determined to revive his great grandfather’s legacy. Claiming he was (maybe true) the great grandson of Thomas Edison or something similar. He did look like him, as he had a nice picture up showing him with one of his bulbs in the exact pose as the Thomas Edison holding his original bulb that can be found on Google. He did not seem to be claiming anything new, but said I don’t want people forced on new LED. I want to say, I totally agree with him, but recently have fallen in love with the 3 all glass filament LED GE LED “HD” series of Relax (2700k), Reveal (still below 3000k but ever so slightly whiter) and Refresh which looks 5000k security lighting. They seem to be built as well as an oldschool incandescent, look identical and instantly start, and no noticeable flicker. The technological advancement has won me. But I’ve yet to switch, but yeah Meved I agree with you 100% the technology in the end does match all aspects of done correctly and I think we’re about at jt where I may retire things like SOX and MV to demo fixtures but use all LED for my home. It would save me a heck of a lot of money and time changing hoarding bulbs. I’ll never let go of my single tabletop demo fixtures though if I do take the others out of service. I think he was sniped out by a payoff or just general public didn’t care about lighting legacies or nostalgia and want progress and his idea wasn’t sustainable as you stated Medved!
